Free Healthcare.
Nkwen, Bamenda.
ZIM Foundation is bringing a full-scale community health campaign to the Nkwen neighbourhood of Bamenda — offering free medical consultations, malaria testing and treatment, and essential medications to hundreds of residents who need it most.
ZIM Foundation is preparing to launch one of its most ambitious community health initiatives to date — a full-scale medical outreach campaign in Nkwen, a densely populated neighbourhood in Bamenda, the capital of the North West Region of Cameroon.
Led in collaboration with Dr. Blessing V Vugar, Director of Sion Medical Center, the campaign will deploy qualified medical personnel to deliver a comprehensive range of free health services — from general consultations to rapid malaria testing, medication distribution, deworming, and preventive health education — targeting up to 500 community members in a single day.
“Together, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of the Nkwen, Bamenda community.”
Why Nkwen, Bamenda?
Access to healthcare in many parts of Bamenda remains a persistent challenge, particularly for low-income households, children, and vulnerable populations. Malaria remains one of the leading causes of illness in the North West Region, yet many residents lack access to diagnostic testing and treatment. This campaign directly addresses that gap — bringing care to where it is needed, rather than asking those in need to come to care.
By embedding the campaign within the Nkwen community itself and working alongside local village authorities, ZIM Foundation ensures that the initiative is not only medically effective but community-owned — a model of outreach that builds lasting trust.
Campaign Objectives
- Provide free medical consultation and basic treatment to 500 residents of Nkwen, Bamenda
- Conduct rapid malaria testing and provide treatment where necessary for at least 300 persons
- Distribute essential medications — antimalarial drugs, deworming tablets, and vitamins — to 300 beneficiaries
- Promote health awareness and preventive healthcare practices across the Nkwen community
- Strengthen collaboration between civil society organisations working to improve community health
What Will Happen on Campaign Day
The campaign is designed to function as a complete healthcare day for the Nkwen community. From first light, medical teams will be stationed and ready to receive residents across the following service areas:
Building on a Proven Model
This campaign follows directly in the footsteps of ZIM Foundation’s April 2026 Mfou Community Health Campaign — where 152 beneficiaries were reached in a single day, 51 malaria cases were diagnosed and treated, and 150 mosquito nets were distributed free of charge. Every single beneficiary surveyed gave a positive recommendation.
The Nkwen campaign scales that model significantly. With a target of 500 consultations and 300 malaria tests, this will be the largest community health initiative ZIM Foundation has ever undertaken — and a demonstration of what coordinated, community-centred healthcare delivery can achieve.
How You Can Help
Campaigns of this scale depend entirely on the generosity of donors and supporters who believe that access to basic healthcare is a right — not a privilege. Every contribution, large or small, goes directly toward medical supplies, personnel, and the logistics that make free care possible for those who cannot afford it.
Help us reach 500 people in Nkwen.
