The end of August marks the beginning of something new for schoolchildren across Cameroon. New notebooks, fresh pencils, the familiar weight of a school bag — small things that carry big meaning. On the 31st of August 2024, ZIM Foundation (Zion International Movement) made sure those things were not out of reach for the 22 children of Saint Rita of Cascia Orphanage in Yaoundé.
Under the leadership of its President and Founder, Pastor Mboyam John Ndifor, the Foundation team arrived at the orphanage to a warm welcome from both staff and children. The visit, formally attested to by the orphanage administration, was part of ZIM Foundation’s ongoing mission to extend love, care, and material support to vulnerable children and institutions.
“The donated materials will contribute significantly to the academic needs of the children — reinforcing a sense of belonging and care.”
A Visit Built Around Education
The timing was intentional. With the school year about to begin, educational materials were exactly what the children needed most. The Foundation arrived with school bags, books in various sizes, and writing materials — pens, pencils, and erasers — totalling 110,000 FCFA in donated supplies.
But the donation was framed within something larger. Before the handover, an opening prayer committed the visit to a higher purpose. A presentation of ZIM Foundation’s mission was made to the orphanage management — establishing not just a one-time gift, but a relationship built on shared values of care and solidarity.
More Than Materials
After the formal presentation of items, the team stayed. That choice mattered. The children of Saint Rita were engaged in conversation, encouraged, and reminded that people beyond their immediate world were investing in their futures. The interaction created, in the words of the report’s author, “a warm and memorable atmosphere for both the children and the visiting team.”
The orphanage management did not take the gesture lightly. They acknowledged the importance of such donations in supporting the children’s education — and the visit was concluded with a closing prayer and group photographs, marking the occasion as one worth remembering.
Impact of the Visit
- Donated materials will directly support the academic year for 22 children
- Boosted morale and reinforced a sense of belonging among the children
- Strengthened the relationship between ZIM Foundation and Saint Rita Orphanage
- Orphanage management formally acknowledged the visit with a written attestation
The Work Continues
This visit is part of a broader pattern of quiet, consistent action that defines ZIM Foundation’s approach to humanitarian work. From Christmas outreach to back-to-school support, the Foundation shows up — not with spectacle, but with purpose.
For the 22 children of Saint Rita of Cascia, the 2024 school year begins with a full bag and the knowledge that someone cares about how it goes.
