On the morning of Christmas Eve 2021, members of the ZIM Foundation (Zion International Movement) gathered to do what they do every time they show up: serve without fanfare. Their destination that day was Grace Divin, an orphanage nestled in the heart of Yaoundé, home to children who had grown used to celebrating the holidays quietly.

The foundation arrived with arms full — plantain, cassava, sweet potatoes, fish, meat, tomatoes, drinks — the building blocks of a proper festive meal. But beyond the food, they brought something harder to put in a budget line: presence.

“This Christmas outreach reflects the unwavering commitment of ZIM Foundation to serve humanity through compassion and generosity.”

A Morning Filled with Purpose

After a warm welcome from the orphanage administration, the team gathered for an opening prayer and brief exhortation — anchoring the occasion in the faith-driven values that have always guided the Foundation’s work. The formal presentation of food items followed, with items laid out and handed over to the caregiving staff who would put them to use in the kitchen.

But the real heart of the visit came in the moments after — the informal fellowship, the laughter between children and visitors, the quiet conversations that don’t make it into project reports. This is the part that lingers.

Beyond the Food Items

The outreach was conceived as more than a delivery run. At its core, it was a statement — that the children of Grace Divin are seen, that their wellbeing matters to people beyond their immediate walls, and that the season of giving is not reserved only for those who already have much.

Primary beneficiaries were the children themselves. But the caregivers and staff of the orphanage — who work tirelessly in the background — were equally acknowledged as partners in this act of shared humanity.

Carrying It Forward

The success of the visit was assessed through delivery confirmation, feedback from the orphanage administration, and internal evaluation. But the Foundation’s own measure of success is simpler: did the children feel celebrated? By every indication, they did.

Initiatives like this one are the quiet, consistent thread running through everything ZIM Foundation does — reinforcing solidarity, strengthening community bonds, and making the values of compassion real rather than theoretical. The work continues.
