Free Healthcare is Coming to Mfou Community
In Mfou — a community where access to basic healthcare remains a daily challenge — a single day of free medical care can change lives. On 11 April 2026, ZIM Foundation is making that day happen.
Why Mfou? Why Now?
Mfou is a community located in the Centre Region of Cameroon, within the Mefou-et-Afamba Division near Yaoundé. Like many semi-rural communities across the country, Mfou faces significant healthcare access barriers — from limited medical infrastructure to the financial cost of even basic consultations. Malaria remains one of the leading causes of illness and death among children and adults alike.
Since our founding in 2021, ZIM Foundation has been committed to bringing essential healthcare directly to the communities that need it most. The Mfou Community Health Campaign is our most ambitious outreach initiative to date — and it could not happen without the solidarity of our partners and supporters.
📊 Health Context — Cameroon 2026
Malaria remains endemic in Cameroon, with the Centre Region among the most affected. Rural communities around Yaoundé face limited access to rapid diagnostic testing and antimalarial treatment, often resulting in delayed care and preventable deaths — particularly among children under 5 and pregnant women.
What Services Will Be Available?
Every service offered at the Mfou Community Health Campaign is completely free of charge. Our team of five certified health personnel, supported by ZIM Foundation staff and volunteers, will deliver the following services throughout the day:
🩺 Free Medical Consultations
General health assessments and prescriptions for all community members attending the campaign.
🦟 Rapid Malaria Testing
On-the-spot rapid diagnostic testing for malaria with immediate treatment where necessary.
💊 Medication Distribution
Antimalarials (adult and child), deworming tablets, vitamins, paracetamol, and gastritis treatment.
🌡️ General Health Screening
Temperature checks, deworming, and general wellness screening for children and adults.
📚 Health Education
Sensitisation sessions on malaria prevention, hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare practices.
👶 Child & Vulnerable Focus
Priority attention for children, elderly, pregnant women, and other vulnerable community members.
Our Partners in This Mission
This campaign is made possible through a strong three-way partnership — bringing together the community advocacy of ZIM Foundation, the organisational reach of Waingam Foundation, and the clinical infrastructure of Centre Medical Sion Clinic.
ZIM Foundation (Organiser)
Waingam Foundation (Co-organiser)
Centre Medical Sion Clinic (Host Facility)
Together, we are pooling resources, expertise, and community relationships to ensure that 11 April 2026 is a day the people of Mfou will remember — a day when healthcare came to them, not the other way around.
“True development begins when communities are empowered to shape their own future — and that begins with their health.”
— ZIM Foundation
